Keynote Presentation [4:30-5:30]. Janet Smith, who is a Professor of Urban Planning and Policy at the University of Illinois-Chicago, Co-director of the Voorhees Center for Neighborhood and Community Improvement, and co-author of Claiming Neighborhood: New Ways of Understanding Urban Change, will address gentrification pressures and neighborhood change in Chicago and other cities, as well as affordable and public housing, and community empowerment for positive change; Approaching Environmental Justice in Milwaukee panel [3-4pm].
The panel will address several case studies from Milwaukee such as the lead water issue. Paper and poster sessions earlier in the day [noon-3pm].
